Hilton Head Island Has 3 Annual Events Saturday, May 19

Forget your house chores this weekend and enjoy Hilton Head Island!  Three annual events are all happening on Saturday and since they are all popular, it may be hard to choose which one or ones you’ll spend your time attending.  Other than some scattered thunderstorms, Saturday is expected to be another beautiful day on the Island!

Rib Burnoff and Barbecue Fest
This year marks the 16th year for the Rib Burnoff and Barbecue Fest which will be held at The Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, from 12:00pm-4:00pm on Saturday, May 19.  Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island, this event calls for restaurants and amateur cooks to compete to win awards for best barbecue and ribs.  Certified barbecue judges as well as ticket holders vote to determine the winners.

Music will be provided by The Portajohns and a free children’s play area will be available so bring the whole family!  Beer, wine, soda, hot dogs, and ice cream will also be available for purchase.  Net proceeds go to children’s charities, so this is event is for a great cause.

Hilton Head Island Beer Festival
The Hilton Head Taste of Summer Craft Beer Festival will feature a variety of over 60 different beers from 25 Craft Breweries plus a few World Class International favorites.  Sample refreshing, flavorful, and fun Craft Beers including: Pilsners, Hefe-Weizens, American-style wheats, Pale Ales, Fruit Beers, Summer Ales, Ciders and more.

This event is on Saturday, May 19 from 2:00pm-6:00pm at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina.  Taste of Summer will also feature summertime foods from Hilton Head Island area restaurants, and live rock, surf and reggae music from “The Blue Dots” and “Patwa”.  Admission to the festival is free however a festival ticket ( $25 advance / $30 at gate ) will be required for sampling.

All Saints Garden Tour
This is the 25th year for the All Saints Garden Tour, an island classic that provides access to eight of the finest gardens on Hilton Head Island, as well as a luncheon in the All Saints Episcopal Church’s parish hall.  It starts at 10:00am on Saturday, May 19th and lasts until 4:00pm.

Tickets for this event are $30 and include: tour of the gardens, seated luncheon, a “Flower Bower” Boutique, a “Heavenly Confections” Bake Sale, Pino Gelato, the opportunity to purchase original works of art, live organ music,  a lecture on drought-tolerant plants, and a floral arrangement demonstration.

Mary Anne Gebler, Chair of the 2012 All Saints Garden Tour Board, has pointed out, “Our Silver Anniversary event provides the rare opportunity for everyone to see some of the premier gardens in our area, while at the same time helping our community respond to the challenges of hunger, homelessness, and literacy.”
