When you’re getting ready to put your home up for sale, there are a few key areas you should focus on to make the best impression on potential buyers. The people that are searching for homes here in Hilton Head Island will surely appreciate any improvements you’ve made so they can spend their time soaking up the sun, planning trips to the beach and visiting our many area attractions!
It’s amazing how such a small space can be such a deciding factor for buyers when it comes time to choose the home they’ll put on an offer on. For example, if a buyer has three homes at the top of their list and love everything about yours except for one of the bathrooms, chances are the buyer will choose one of the other home’s that have already made updates.
Recommendations I have are to freshen up the bathroom with a few small changes like updating the sink faucet, lighting fixtures, and water features. If you have a more expensive home, taking the extra step and installing an updated shower head to a more efficient rain shower and replacing any outdated, gold or brass fixtures, will be worth your while.
Because the kitchen usually becomes the heart of the home for family and friends to gather, it is looked at as one of the most important spaces to make improvements.
You can give an immediate visual impact by improving things like the sink and faucet, updating the knobs and pulls on the cabinet doors and drawers, and updating the flooring.
Main living areas
The main living areas of the home are the next place to determine what changes and improvements you can make to appeal to potential buyers. Start with the flooring. Are you going to put your home up for sale with the same carpet you’ve had for the last 10 years? Updating to hardwood floors or even cork would be much more buyer friendly.
Also take into consideration the age of your windows. With views as gorgeous as they are in Hilton Head, your windows can become a selling feature all on their own…if they are updated or at least in great condition.
