The wide open sandy beaches here in Hilton Head Island may not have the most places to hide Easter eggs for a hunt, but there are a number of other places like Shelter Cove Park and even your own backyard that would be perfect!
1. Make an Easter egg time capsule
Have your child write a letter to herself, describing what she likes most about this time of year (or anything else she or he wants to write about!) Put the letter inside of an Easter egg and put it away until next year. Include this “time capsule” in next year’s egg hunt and when it gets opened, they can read the letter they wrote to themselves!
2. Add a twist with glow sticks
Glow sticks add a twist to your typical Easter egg hunt. Get your kids in on the action by having them fold their favorite colored sticks inside plastic eggs with some candy. Now all you have to do is hide them and wait until it gets dark!
3. Have an Easter egg lunch hunt
Fill the Easter eggs with items your child would eat for lunch, like cheese, grapes, nuts, bites of sandwiches etc. Hide the eggs around the house and right before lunch get the hunt started…once they are collected and opened, your child can eat lunch right out of the eggs!
4. A numbers game
In addition to stuffing plastic eggs with candy, slip in pieces of paper with numbers on them. Once kids find the eggs, have them add up their numbers – the highest total gets a prize.
5. Picture Puzzle
This is one of my favorite ideas! Instead of stuffing Easter eggs with candy, cut up a picture and hide the pieces inside the eggs. Once the kids find all the eggs they can put the picture together!

From my family to yours, have a very happy and fun holiday weekend!
