The 11 Plantations of Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head Island is home to eleven exclusive communities, each one offering a unique way of living, spectacular views, and distinct homes.  No matter what’s important to you in choosing where to call home (or where to have a vacation home), the plantations of Hilton Head all provide an environment perfect for you.

Hilton Head Plantation
Resting on 4,000 acres of breathtaking natural beauty, Hilton Head Plantation is one of the most popular residential locations on the island.  Located in the northern part of Hilton Head, you’ll find many activities of a world-class resort.  It’s known for its security, many services, recreational facilities and programs, and places an emphasis on family lifestyles.  You’ll also find 4 golf courses, lagoons, clubs, a new pavilion, a country club, and park’s where Headliners come to play.

Palmetto Hall Plantation
Spread across 720 acres of land, Palmetto Hall Plantation is one of Hilton Head Island’s newest communities and features two championship golf courses, two tennis courts, a pool and pavilion, and a beautiful southern-style clubhouse.  You’ll find people of all ages in this close knit, non-resort gated community who are proud of their strong community spirit.

Port Royal
Port Royal is home to approximately 900 single family homes as well as over 70 home sites not yet developed.  Situated on some of the highest ground in Hilton Head, this gated community is abundant with natural beauty and is home to two major Civil War sites and the site of the Spanish American War steam gun.  It features a beautiful shore line, pools, a beach house, tennis courts, leisure paths, an arboretum, and golf courses.

Palmetto Dunes Plantation
Situated mid-island, residents have access to the ocean, golf courses, lagoons, canoeing, fishing, water sports, and tennis.  You’ll find the most diverse types of homes in this 1,800 acre plantation including private single family homes, vacation villas, and condominiums.  Palmetto Dunes Plantation is also home to Shelter Cove Harbour, one of the most popular places on the island.

Indigo Run Plantation
Made up of 1,700 acres, you’ll find a residential lifestyle in this community.  If seeing abundant wildlife and living among natural beauty is appealing to you, Indigo Run may be your next destination!  With tree canopy lined streets and a quiet ambiance, this tranquil, neighborly environment is full of activities and water and golf views.

Windmill Harbour Plantation
This popular boating community is smaller than the other plantations on the island, reserved for only 500 residences on 172 acres of land.  Offering beautiful vista views of the Intracoastal and saltwater marshes, Windmill Harbour is home to the South Carolina Yacht Club and has many activities for families of all ages.

Spanish Wells Plantation
As the place where Spanish settlers first came to Hilton Head Island, this plantation holds historical significance.  You’ll find century old oak trees in this exclusive community, complete with breathtaking scenery.  It is a perfect location for easy access to the mainland, to the center of the island with its churches, schools, hospital and services and to the south end of the island with its shopping, dining and beaches.

Wexford Plantation
This private community is situated on 500 acres and offers residents places for elegant dining, yachting, tennis, and golf, as well as a multi-million dollar clubhouse.  There is a wide variety of people in Wexford; young and old; working and retired; single and married, families with children and families without.  It features leisure trails, a heated swimming pool, and safe places to bike, jog, walk the dog.

Long Cove Plantation
This upscale community offers residents the best in luxury living.  You’ll have access to fishing, swimming, and boating, as well as golf and is just minutes from the beach, restaurants and entertainment.  On just over 600 acres, Long Cove has some of the most outstanding natural beauty to be found in Hilton Head and the marina is one of most popular places to be in the plantation.

Shipyard Plantation
You’ll find single family homes, villas, and condominiums in this 800 acre community, located in the scenic heart of the south end of Hilton Head Island.  Recreational facilities include championship golf and tennis, trails for biking and jogging, a first class resort hotel, a health spa, and the beach.  Residents experience a true sense of community in Shipyard, complete with activities and amenities to make it a one of a kind place.

Sea Pines Plantation
One of Hilton Head Island’s oldest resort communities, Sea Pines offers championship golf courses, tennis, beach combing, and many other activities and outdoor recreation.  Situated on over 5,000 oceanfront acres, residents experience luxury, fun, and a unique way of living.  Home to the Heritage Golf Classic, the famous golf tournament held at the Harbour Town Golf Links.
