5 Tips to Sell Your Home Faster

Whether you are just getting ready to put your home up for sale or it’s been on the market for a few months, there are a few things you can do that will help it to sell faster.  Your home needs to stand out from the rest and allow potential buyers to see themselves living there.  Here are a few tips I have that will help you sell your home and move forward with the next step in your life!

The first impression a potential buyer will have of your home is the curb appeal.  It is important to make sure the lawn is freshly mowed, weeds are removed, and it looks clean.  Enhancing the curb appeal doesn’t have to break the bank.  A few easy and inexpensive projects you can do in a weekend are painting the front door, trim, or shutters, and adding a few flower pots to the entry way, welcoming in those buyers.

A buyer needs to be able to see themselves living in your home, so remove your family photos and personal decorations.  You’ll also want to keep the accessories to a minimum, as they tend to distract buyers from actually seeing the space.

When it comes to the furniture, start by arranging the main pieces in a conversational way.  If at all possible, remove any furniture that creates clutter or is too large for the space.  A great way to change your outdated or worn furniture without buying new is to use slip covers.  Slip covers give you a less expensive alternative, and can transform the look of your space.

Buyers love closet space!  Preparing to sell is a great time to clean out the closets to declutter, organize, and make them appear as large as possible.  It is important for every room in your home to be clean, clutter free, and organized.  Be sure to clean all of the windows on the inside and outside to let in as much natural light as possible.

What Makes Hilton Head Island Unique for Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend marks the official start to the summer.  So what is it about Hilton Head Island that just beckons people to use the long weekend to come here?  Maybe it’s the twelve miles of breathtaking beaches or the perfect temperatures or the relaxed atmosphere.  Maybe it’s the natural beauty or myriad of outdoor things to do like bike riding on the beach, or walking on the many trails that calls out to people to visit us here.

The three day Memorial weekend here in Hilton Head Island means different things to different people, but there’s no mistaking that this area is unique and full of things to do to enjoy your time.

In addition to the barbeques, friendly gatherings, and pool parties, Memorial Day is a time to reflect on and honor the veterans of war who fought to make the way we live today a reality.  The sacrifices they made will be commemorated with activities such as parades, fireworks, and memorial services throughout Hilton Head Island and nearby areas.

On Monday, May 28, 2012, the annual Memorial Day observance will be presented by the Hilton Head Navy League.  It starts at 10:30am at the Veterans Memorial Park in Shelter Cove, located behind the mall.  Come and honor those that gave their lives for our great nation.  The address will be give by Colonel Robert Jones, Commanding Officer Recruit Training Regiment, Parris Island.  For more information, please call 843-682-3551.

Looking for something to do on the weekend?  How about an art festival?  Shelter Cove Harbour will be home to a variety of paintings, oils, sculptures, wood, glass, ceramics, and all kinds of beautiful art work for sale on May 26-27.

Hilton Head Island is the perfect place to spend Memorial Day weekend.  Trust me, you won’t want to leave…just ask the locals!
